Conference Aston helps runners and organisers host a successful Great Birmingham Run
Conference Aston, Birmingham's leading residential events venue at Aston University, once again hosted the organisers of the Great Birmingham Run, providing a central operational base for one of the city’s largest running events.
Welcoming a team of 100 of the run's representatives, Conference Aston supported event planning and coordination across the long weekend last week. The event contributed to the wider economic impact generated by the Great Birmingham Run. Over 17,000 people took part and visited Birmingham, driving significant spending in the local economy.
The venue provided dedicated briefing room setups to support coordination, alongside catering and hospitality for the team.
On Sunday morning, 100 breakfast bags were prepared for collection from 3.30 am to support runners and organisers ahead of the event.
Head of Conference Aston, Samantha Brown, said, “We are proud to support an event that brings such clear economic and social benefits to Birmingham. Hosting the organisers and their teams demonstrates how venues like ours contribute behind the scenes to the success of major events, while also driving business into the local economy.”
On Saturday evening, ahead of the half marathon, the venue hosted organisers with a British pre run dinner featuring traditional favourites such as fish and chips, vegetarian toad in the hole and sticky toffee pudding, which helped keep guests fuelled.
This year, runners finished at a new “festival-style” village at Aston University, an exciting change to the event route.
Increased demand for accommodation, dining, and event services significantly boosts local businesses and highlights Birmingham’s strength as a destination for major events.
