19th August 2025

Aston University is proud to announce its successful reaccreditation to the internationally recognised ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management) standards. The university has also been awarded EcoCampus Platinum status, the highest environmental recognition for UK universities, following a comprehensive audit.

This reaccreditation reflects Aston University’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency across its operations, academic activities, and wider campus community. The audit highlighted the university’s robust management systems, strategic leadership, and collaborative efforts to embed sustainability into all aspects of university life.

The ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards provide a framework for organisations to manage their environmental responsibilities and energy performance systematically. Aston University’s reaccreditation confirms that it continues to meet these rigorous standards, ensuring continuous improvement and accountability.

This milestone supports the university’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy performance, and promoting environmental awareness across teaching, research, and operations.
