Planning a really big conference with people travelling from the UK and abroad? The Aston campus is built for big events with everything you need no more than a few footsteps away. Over 70 meeting and event spaces for up to 650 are all in one fantastic location, with impressive tiered lecture theatres, flat floor meeting, teaching and syndicate rooms, as well as large halls and event spaces for the ultimate in flexibility. For large conferences and meetings, exhibitions and summer schools, you can combine choice, flexibility facilities to meet your needs.
Our maximum capacity from Summer 2024-Summer 2026 will be 220 theatre style as we redevelop our large event spaces on campus.
This is your space, think of our rooms as your blank canvas to paint the perfect meeting.. You can pick and choose your layout with complete flexibility; a variety of large spaces offer tiered lecture theatres, Harvard style lecture theatres, flat floor event spaces and small exhibition areas for up to approximately 30 shell scheme stands.
You'll rarely need to take more than 40 footsteps when you break out into smaller groups; we've made sure that the larger meeting spaces, right across the campus, are within easy access to a choice of smaller meeting and syndicate rooms to give you the perfect space for workshops and indvidual sessions.
There are over 55 syndicate and meeting rooms in the Aston University Main Building and an additional 19 in the conference hotel, the two buildings are 30 seconds walk from each other, meaning they can be used independently or combined.
All of the syndicate rooms are equipped to the same standard as your main suite, with plenty of audio visual options available with experienced technicians on hand.
Whether you're running a HD cable from your laptop or hooking up your iPad, you'll be connecting yourself, with the simple touch of a screen, to the very latest technology with everything from a suite of laptops to built in projectors and sound systems. If you need a helping hand, our onsite support team have over thirty years' experience of perfecting presentations. For our larger events, this is further supported by Aston University's extensive media department to ensure everything you need is to hand. Free high speed WiFi is available within the majority of the conference and accommodation spaces, and there are a number of WiFi hotspot lounges to keep you and your delegates online.

From the very first time you speak to the team, our enquiry and event experts will make sure everything's taken care of from the pastries on arrival to the specially selected wine with dinner. Our team will ensure they dot the i's and cross the t's two weeks prior to the start of your event, and you'll also have a contact on hand during your event, between our event planners, front of house team and venue duty managers, who will be around to help to assist with queries and last minute requests.
For those larger events, we know you won't want to be fixed to a certain type of dining; our spaces include cafeteria style self service for breakfast and lunch on the go; the Great Hall for a more formal seated dining experience; a more relaxed themed buffet for lunch or dinner - great for encouraging networking. We're flexible enough to create something specific for your needs, so if you have any ideas about what dining arrangements have worked for you in the past, let us know!
Choices, choices, choices... we know you'll probably have a budget in mind for your accommodation; we have options to meet all sorts of budgets. You won't have to walk very far when night falls if you choose our modern Aston Student Villages, with over 800 ensuite bedrooms at the centre of the campus. If you're looking for somewhere with a few more creature comforts and even more stylish, our conference hotel offers 163 four star standard hotel bedrooms, with City Premium Singles, City Doubles and Twins, Executive Doubles and Twins and City Suites give you a great choice to suit the needs and budget of your delegates. Being Birmingham's biggest residential venue is ideal for keeping everyone in one place and you can mix and match your accommodation depending on your requirements.
Treat yourself to a dip in Birmingham's oldest swimming pool and discover the stunning features of the Victorian sports centre on campus with free access for you and your delegates for the duration of your event. There's a 110 station gymnasium, fitness suites, squash courts and once you've worked up a sweat, relax in the sauna or steam rooms. The sports centre is a few minutes walk from all of the meeting and accommodation space on campus. Have you ever wondered who would win a 5-a-side football match out of finance and HR? There are indoor and outdoor sports pitches across the Aston campus, ideal for a variety of team building events!
Dog racing, the Balti mile with great Indian dishes, food festival, Birmingham Museum, art galleries, more canals than Venice, Cadbury's World, NIA, LG Arena, ICC, Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Hippodrome and Alexandra theatres, Sealife Centre and, of course, more than 1000 shops across the city centre and within Bullring and the Mailbox. Phew... we're out of breath after listing all of those, and that's not even everything! There really is something for everyone here in Birmingham.
